PORTAGEVILLE - Hattie Ludie Shearrill, 87, died Oct. 18, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

Born June 4, 1916, in Carthage, Miss., daughter of the late Ed and Martha Walker Morris, she was a member of the Old Landmark Church of Christ Divine in Caruthersville where she served on the Mothers Board.

On Jan. 24, 1933, in Lee County, Miss., she married Elton Shearrill who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Vernia Williams of Portageville, Shirley J. Sims of Bellwood, Ill., and Mary Sue Shearrill of Chicago, Ill.; eight sons, Robert Shearrill, Jimmy Shearrill, Perry Shearrill and, Raymond Shearrill of Chicago, Ezell Shearrill and Eddie Earl Sherrill of Bellwood, Edgar Shearrill of West Chester, Ill., and Phillip Shearrill of Marshall; one brother, Robert Morris of Chicago; two sisters, Grace Shearrill of Chicago and Betty Jean Matlock of Detroit, Mich.; and 38 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Albert Shearrill, four brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Portageville. Bishop Fredrick Mitchell of Chicago will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery at Point Pleasant.

Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid is in charge of arrangements.
