SIKESTON - City Manager Raymert Miller reports Sikeston will add two policemen Wednesday: John W. Graham, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Graham of Matthews Route One; and Hiram Gardner, 45, of 358 Magnolia Drive.

EAST PRAIRIE - Lisa Britt, 17, daughter of Larry and Shirley Britt of East Prairie, was crowned Miss Fourth of July in a pageant conducted at the East Prairie High School auditorium Saturday night. Other winners were Lynn Lewis, 15, first runner-up, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lewis of East Prairie; and Michelle McTigue, second runner-up, daughter of Bennie McTigue and the late Fremont McTigue. In previous years, this pageant had been called the Miss Sweet Corn contest.

SIKESTON - Sikeston's second-grade all-star team recently came through with a strong showing in three area tournaments. Members of the team are: Ryan Mitchell, Jordan Dillender, Tanner Smith, Blake DeWitt, Michael LaPlant, Jason Deere, Derek Wiles, Nathan Eaves, Tyler Holt, Carson Peters, Scott Keenan, Michael Dement, Jacob Priday, Zach Fayette and Chance Pressley. The coaches are Ron Priday and Mike DeWitt.

SIKESTON - Dorothy Hatfield, owner of Super 8 Motel and the new Hatfield Inn in Miner, purchased the first 100 tickets for a United Way fund-raiser from Matt Puchbauer, chairman of the United Way Fund-raiser Committee. The drawing will be Aug. 26 for the "Vacation Weekend Getaway" for two.
