CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Bueta "Billie" V. Gleason Whitney, 80, died Aug. 20, 2007, following an extended illness.
Born July 10, 1927, at Lisbon, to the late Myrtle and Merle Bills and Stanley Gleason, she attended school in Sikeston from 1942-1944. She graduated in Marion in 1945. She had been employed for 28 years with Collins Radio and later Rockwell Industries before retiring. She was also employed at Square D Credit Union for seven years.
In 1946, she married Keith Boots. She later married Darwin Whitney on May 16, 1959, and he preceded her in death.
One son, Lynn Boots, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jodie Boots; one daughter, Marla and Greg Burris; two sisters, Bernadine Gleason Starnes of Sikeston and Doris Gleason Pflughaupt of Jacksonville, Fla.; one half-brother, Stan Gleason of Plattsmouth, Neb.; two half-sisters, Kathleen Wheeler of Milan, Ill. and Beverly Berg of Davison, Mich.; one granddaughter, three grandsons and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel. Her cousin, the Rev. Robert Gleason, officiated.
Burial followed at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
