CHAFFEE -- Chaffee's volleyball team took another huge step forward on Wednesday, defeating Oran in straight sets, 15-8, 15-2.
The Lady Red Devils improve to 2-7 with the victory.
Heading into the season, Chaffee's program hadn't posted a win in two years.
"We've been playing real well lately," said Chaffee coach David Mirly. "One game we would show no emotion, but make no mistakes. In another game, we would show lots of emotion but would make mistakes. Tonight, we kind of brought that all together. When we do that, we're not too bad of a team. Our intensity level stayed up all night. Everybody played well."
Jennifer Vandeven led the way with 13 kills, four blocks, eight digs, 11 points and three aces. Mallory Kiefer had another big night with one block, six digs, seven kills, eight points and four aces.
Ashley Graham had 10 digs and three kills. Natalie Townsend had three blocks, six digs and nine kills. Lindsey Everett had two blocks, one dig and six kills.
Ashton Lee had seven digs, one kill, seven points and 40 assists. Molly Fowler had two digs, four points and three aces. Samantha Hendrix contributed one kill.
Chaffee (2-7) will travel to Woodland today to play at 6 p.m.
