SIKESTON - Winifred Meeks, 68, died at 12:30 a.m. April 27, 2003, at the North West Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Born June 5, 1934, in Warrington, England, daughter of the late John and Rachel Hutcheson Alcock, she had been employed by the Anchor Toy Factory in Sikeston. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Charleston.
On Jan. 14, 1954, in Warrington, she married Charles E. Meeks who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Charles F. Meeks of Mary Esther, Fla.; three daughters, Rachel Schoffner and Marjorie Wheeler of San Antonio and Lora Rushing of Wappapello; four brothers, Eddie Alcock, Jack Alcock, Bob Alcock and Ron Alcock of Warrington; three sisters, Clara Downey and Iris Tichard of Warrington and Jeanne Meeks of Selma, Ala.; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 am. Saturday. The Rev. Bill Meeks, pastor of the First General Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
