BUCHANAN, Tenn. - Elmer "Earl" Stewart, 63, died June 28, 2004, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn.
Born Sept. 16, 1940, in Tiptonville, son of Haultress Walker Stewart of Buchanan and the late James Elmer Stewart, he retired as a welder for the Caterpillar and Tractor Company in Illinois.
On July 21, 1989, he married Sandra Lockridge who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Allen Basinger and Karen and William Chappel of Sikeston, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Deborah Miney of Dwight, Ill.; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Rhonda Miney of Marseilles, Ill.; three sisters, Gladys Carpenter of Paris, Tenn., Margaret Smith of Dyersburg and Doris Owens of Buchanan; four brothers, Thomas Stewart of Newbern, Richard Stewart of Buchanan, Michael Stewart of Old Appleton, Mo., and Jackie Stewart of Friendship; and four grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Waldron.
Graveside services were conducted Friday at the New Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery with Dr. Gary S. Collier officiating.
McEvoy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
