Born Jan. 28, 1942, in Dexter, son of Vivian "Vip" Perry Putnam of Bernie and the late G.E. Putnam, he owned and operated K&K Pallets in Wright City and was a member of the Bernie Masonic Lodge. He was of the Baptist belief.
His wife, Karen Medlin Putnam, survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Scott B. Putnam of Warrenton; one daughter, Robin M. Putnam of St. Charles; two brothers, Gary Putnam and Larry Putnam of Dexter; and one granddaughter.
One brother, Max Putnam, preceded him in death.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where a Masonic service at 7 p.m. will be followed by a memorial service with the Rev. Dean Williams, officiating.
Putnam donated his body to science at Logan College in St. Louis.
