EAST PRAIRIE -- Frances Howton Slinkard, 81, died at 8:37 p.m. April 14, 2003, at the Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
Born Dec. 12, 1921, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Winfield Rowe and Della Van Markham Howton, she had lived in East Prairie all of her life where she became a member of the First Baptist Church in December 1990.
On Jan. 29, 1945, she married Rapherd "Slim" Slinkard who preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1988.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Mary Slinkard of Holts Summit; three daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Slinkard and Glenda Faye Peterson of East Prairie and Mary L. and Charlie Burney of Kevil, Ky.; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Jason Slinkard of Warrensburg and Alan and Christy Peterson of Bartlett, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Sam Peterson of Bartlett.
Three brothers and seven sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday with George White officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
