SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Lancaster of New Madrid have a baby girl and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Struwe of Sikeston have a baby boy. The babies were born at the Sikeston General Hospital.

SIKESTON - Five area boys were presented awards at the MCPA meeting for producing three bales of cotton per acre on their land. They are Larry Whitfield of Caruthersville, first place; Alfred Byrd, second place; Steve and Stan Thompson of Lilbourn, third place; and Jerry Whitfield of Caruthersville, fourth place.

EAST PRAIRIE - The Chamber of Commerce Annual Man and Woman of the Year Banquet is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the A.J. Martin Elementary School. Also recognized will be a Distinguished Citizen of the Year and Member of the Year. Guest speakers will be Richard Vaught, Dean Murphy, Ken Babcock and Steve Young, all from the Missouri Department of Conservation and Wildlife.

SIKESTON - Julie Dolan may have to appear in court before her husband, David, some day, but it probably won't be because she's in trouble. Mrs. Dolan is an attorney and her husband is an associate circuit court judge.


NEW MADRID - For eight years, the Little River Drainage District has been honored for its maintenance of channels and levees. In 1993 the district was honored again. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers presented the award to the district Tuesday afternoon,.


SIKESTON - Sikeston Department of Public Safety Officer Shirley Porter was named the Sikeston Jaycees Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Jeff Long presented the award.
