SIKESTON - Lillie Bell Shelby, 88, died April 16, 2003, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
Born April 10, 1915, near Matthews, daughter of the late Spurlin and Birdie Duke Beck Sr., she was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On July 11, 1936, in New Madrid, she married Harley Shelby who preceded her in death on July 1, 1984.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Annabelle and Carl Merideth of Sikeston; four brothers, Spurlin Beck Jr., Joe Beck and Billy Bob Beck of Sikeston and Woodrow Beck of Matthews; four sisters, Charlene Humphrey of Dickson, Tenn., and Thelma McDonald, Motel Smith and Jewel Harber of Sikeston; and one grandson and spouse, Marcus and Jennifer Merideth of Westland, Mich.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Linzie Beck and Walter Lee Beck; and one sister, Lorene Beck.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Tippen, pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. James Trotter, former pastor of the church. Music for the service was provided by Hal Mark McDonald.
Burial followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Mike Humphrey, Beck Smith, Mitchell Shelby, Lee Beck, Ronnie Hodges and Duke McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers were: Kevan Beck, Wayne Voss, John David Campbell and Roy Shelby.
