SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Guy Carter departed Wednesday for Glendale, Calif., to make their home. They will reside with their daughter, Mrs. Forrest Higgins, who is a trained nurse in the employ of the government.

SIKESTON - Jim Watson, president of the Sikeston Senior High School Student Body, was elected president of his council during the Missouri Student Council Leadership Workshop at Missouri University.

SIKESTON - Charles Ancell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. Ancell, was elected county treasurer from Bacon County at Missouri Boys State in Warrensburg.

SIKESTON - David Dolan and Steve Forbis announced that the rodeo ticket office will open at 10 a.m. Saturday and that the Rodeo Queen Contest will be held July 28. Ten days of events are being planned in conjunction with Rodeo Week. Local residents are urged to buy their tickets early due to the heavy demand for choice seating.

VANDUSER - The winner of the Little Miss contest was recently named during Vanduser's Survivors Day celebration. Mykah Bryan, 5, daughter of Michael and Beth Bryan of Sikeston, won the crown. First runner-up is Jennifer Medley, 5, daughter of Bob and Daphne Medley of Vanduser and Lacie Pobst, 4, daughter of Mike and Janet Pobst of Chaffee is the second runner-up.


BELL CITY - The Bell City Betterment Organization named the yard of Inez Abner as the Bell City Yard of the Month for June.
