Wednesday, April 2, 2003

CHARLESTON -- Chaffee's softball team made quick work of Charleston on Tuesday afternoon, blowing past the Lady Bluejays 14-0 in five innings.

Shannon Hampton picked up the win, allowing one hit with eight strikeouts.

At the plate, Kegan Orr led the way, batting 3-for-4 with a double. Abby Walter was 2-for-4 with a home run in the fourth inning.

Sarah Dooley and Molly Fowler were also both 2-for-4 in the win.

The Lady Red Devils led just 2-0 heading into the fourth inning, but came alive, scoring 12 runs in the fourth.

"I thought the girls played an excellent game," said Chaffee head coach Debbie Lewis. "We came out to win and played as a team."

Charleston's Starr was charged with the loss. Worthy had the team's only hit. Chaffee (1-1) will play at Meadow Heights on Thursday.
