EAST PRAIRIE -- East Prairie defeated Chaffee on Tuesday night 44-36, remaining undefeated on the young season.
Multi-sport standout Matt Boyer was in the zone, pouring in a game-high 24 points, hitting two 3-pointers. Behind Boyer, the Eagles saw six points from Roger Swann, five each from Jordan Sanders and Jason Adkisson, then four points from Jared Carden.
For the Red Devils, James Reischman led the way with 12 points, followed by Sam Burnett with eight, Sid Burks with six, Bret Whitaker with five, Zac Horman with three and Brad Uhrhan with two.
"We came out tonight with a good game plan, and we executed it," said Chaffee head coach David Mirly. "It showed, holding them to 44 points. The effort was really there tonight, I was proud of the way the guys played."
East Prairie (2-0) will host Egyptian on Tuesday. Chaffee (0-1) will travel to Woodland next Friday.
STEELE -- New Madrid County Central's girls basketball team lost its third game of the season Tuesday night in the South Pemiscot Tournament, falling 51-41.
Freshman Jessica Green led the Lady Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds. Junior Clinae Smith contributed nine points and three rebounds.
NMCC turned the ball over a whopping 29 times in the loss. "We have to learn to play smart and protect the ball," said NMCC head coach Matt Ginther.
The Lady Eagles (0-3) will host Notre Dame on Monday at 6 p.m.
In other girls games around the area, Fredericktown defeated West County 51-50 and North County beat Crystal City 57-50.
