CHARLESTON - Minnie A. Slaten Warren, 87, died at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 20, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Hot Springs, Ark., daughter of the late Edgar Roy and Myrtle Kemp Slaten, she lived in Charleston most of her life. A graduate of Charleston High School, she attended business school in Cairo, Ill. When Brown Shoe Company opened in Charleston, she was employed as one of the company's first floor ladies. She and her husband co-owned and operated Warren's Store until her retirement. A member of the Wyatt Methodist Church, she had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Charleston for many years.
On Sept. 26, 1946, she married John Jake Warren who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1993.
Survivors include: two brothers, Gene Slaten and Kemp Slaten of Charleston; two sisters, Pauline Pinelle of Pueblo, Colo., and Martha Jane Baker of Charleston; and 18 nieces and nephews, 37 great- nieces and nephews and several great-great- nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hal Slaten and Carlton Slaten.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Allen Baker, Ted Slaten, Gordon Slaten, Steve Slaten, John Slaten, Richard Slaten, Eddie Slaten and Steven Smith.
