Driver sought in deadly accident

BLOOMFIELD - Authorities are seeking the driver involved in a fatal accident that claimed two Stoddard County residents and injured another two.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. Friday on Route E, 1.5 miles east of Bloomfield, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, when a car driven by an as-yet-unidentified driver heading west in the eastbound lane struck a vehicle driven by Bobby Reynolds, 27, of Dexter.

The westbound vehicle's driver fled the scene of the accident, according to the patrol's report.

Two of the passengers in the westbound vehicle, Dianne Conner, 33, of Bloomfield, and Kenneth Sitz, 55, of Essex, were pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Morgan Sifford. A third passenger, Tonya Boner, 28, of Dexter, received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Also injured in the accident was a passenger in Reynold's car: Derek Barnes, 14, of Essex, who was taken by ambulance to Missouri Southern Healthcare for his moderate injuries.

Conner was taken by the coroner to Rainey Funeral Home; and Sitz was taken by the coroner to Watkins Funeral Home.
