Mabel Alston

CHAFFEE - Mabel M. Alston, 88, formerly of Chalmette, La., died at 3:37 p.m. March 31, 2003, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 28, 1914, in Neosho County, Kan., daughter of the late Elzie Sigle and Florence Elizabeth Sours Edwards, she retired from a Chevrolet dealership in Leavenworth, Kan., and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Chaffee.

On July 1, 1932, she married William Riley Alston who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1992.

Survivors include: two daughters, Billie Minor of Chaffee and Nancy Buyan of Florence, Ore.; one sister, Cris Finney of Fairfax, Va.; and five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, one great-grandson and one great-great-grandson.

No visitation or services are scheduled. Her cremains will be interred at the Springfield National Cemetery at a later date.
