Wednesday, April 23, 2003

SIKESTON - Two medium bombers will go to Uncle Sam's fighting air forces carrying a name given them by the school children of Sikeston. "Sikeston Bulldogs" and "Spirit of Sikeston" names will be carried into battle by the two bombers. The naming of the two medium bombers was made possible through a bomber drive sponsored by the Sikeston schools. A 60-day drive was started to raise $175,000 in war bond purchases, $175,000 being the cost of a medium bomber.

SIKESTON - Two persons have retired from the Sikeston International Shoe Company, after each had served more than 30 years, according to F.L. Rudd, superintendent. They were Grace DuBois and L.W. Kernell.
