OAK RIDGE -- Oran's eighth grade volleyball team took first place in the Oak Ridge Invitational Tournament recently.

In the first round, Oran defeated Marquand 15-4, 15-7. Kayla Graviett led all scorers with 14 points.

Oran faced host Oak Ridge in the second round game, winning 15-7, 15-8. Mandi Wood led all scorers with seven points, followed closely by Holly Limbaugh who had six.

In the championship game, Oran faced Jackson. Megan Chapman led all scorers with eight points.

Cumulatively, Graviett had 22 points for the day followed by Wood with 12.

"It was a good day for us," said Oran coach Tonya Skinner. "The girls worked so hard, and it is always a bid deal for us to win games against big schools like Jackson. I have been very pleased with their determination and drive this year. They have worked very hard and made me proud."

Earlier in the season, the team took second place in the Scott City Invitational Tournament. Oran finished their season last week with a final record of 11-5. The Eagles were coached by Tonya Skinner and assisted by Sarah Bauer.
