Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Bloomington, Ill., daughter of the late Chester William and Anna "Lorene" Hickman Short, she served with the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC) in World War II. She was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
On June 25, 1946, in St. Louis, she married Delmar Wayne Witt who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald W. Witt of Stuart, Fla., and Robert W. Witt of Benton; three daughters, Arlinda McElmurry of Jackson, Patricia Ricca of Morton, Ill., and Deborah McMahon of Scott City; three sisters, Virginia Deal and Sandra Gottschalk of Bloomington and Karol Harris of El Paso, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
No visitation is scheduled.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City with the Rev. Bob Azinger officiating.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
