Call 471-6636

Imagine another SpeakOut concerning the R-1 elementary school issue. I try not to stoop to the level of troublemakers on any issue, but cannot sit back any longer, biding my time. First of all, I am not from New Madrid but I do have to children who will attend the new school if this issue passes and I certainly hope it does. The last SpeakOut comment I read in the paper mentioned a flyer in last week's paper being filled with what they considered non-facts. I have nothing but kudos and the highest praise for R-1 and its board and administration. And yes, they do have the best interest of the students foremost in their plans or they wouldn't be doing this. I don't know what the name of the school is or where it will be located. I know that my children will benefit from a state of the art facility staffed with the best teachers in the area. If you have any questions on this bond issue, feel free to call any administrator or board member and they will be more than happy to explain the situation. They could even bring it down to your level of understanding. But you have to be willing to listen. You can sit behind the scenes, stirring trouble, hiding behind something behind "Concerned Citizens Committee" and our children will be the ones to pay for your selfish attitude. How concerned are you if you don't even give the name of a person to contact if some brow-beaten half-whit wanted to join your little bandwagon. You mentioned in your SpeakOut that you couldn't believe the people who had signed their names to the non-fact sheet. Well, the fact sheet I saw didn't have any signatures on it, but yes, our board and administration stand behind these facts. If there were a place on that sheet for signatures, their names would be on it. That's more than we can say for your propaganda ads placed in the paper these last few weeks. This may never be printed in SpeakOut and I really don't care. I just wanted to release some anger.

A comment about the Bush-Daschle conflict. Daschle has cornered the union for political purposes and I venture to would say that Bush is doing the same thing with the Mexicans. When he gives speeches in Spanish instead of English, I believe he is doing the very same thing. What's goodfor the goose should be good for the gander. If Bush and Reagan had had their way, we would all probably be working for whatever they wanted to pay and under whatever conditions they deemed necessary. Of course neither of them has ever been in that position.

Will someone please give Tom Daschle please give back his binky and blankie so he will cut out the Tommy tantrums?
