BLOOMFIELD -- Two Stoddard County juveniles are in custody at the Stoddard County Juvenile Detention Center after stealing a tractor with an estimated total damage of $40,000 to $50,000.
According to Stoddard County Sheriff Steve Fish, after an extensive investigation, Stoddard County deputies were led to the two Stoddard County juveniles, ages 12 and 13, after receiving a report of a tractor being operated in a soybean field during the early morning of Aug. 25. Upon making contact with the reporting party, deputies determined the tractor being operated had been stolen from the New Lisbon Township Maintenance Shed in Leora. After tracking the tractor for several hours, the two juveniles were located while still operating the vehicle.
Stoddard County Sheriff's Office has also been investigating several reports of farm vehicle thefts and property damage in the northwest part of the county. The incidents have occurred during a one-month period and have resulted in several thousand dollars in vehicle and property damage.
