Barbara Holmes

HILLSBORO, Ill. - Barbara Lee Holmes, 53, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 2:39 a.m. June 24, 2004, at her home.

Born Dec. 9, 1950, in East Prairie, daughter of the late James and Vivian Owens Christian, she lived in Hillsboro since 1974 and was a housekeeper for the Hillsboro Hospital for about 10 years.

On May 12, 1973, at Anniston, she married David Holmes, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law Linda Latham of Hillsboro and Elizabeth and Jerry Haslett of Fillmore; two sisters, Brenda Thurman of East Prairie and Beverly Cartwright of Belleville; six brothers, Reece Christian, Ernie Christian, Billy Ray Christian, Mike Christian and James Christian of East Prairie and Jimmy Christian of Westwego, La.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. Mike Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
