SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 9-0 shutout of Poplar Bluff on Monday at the Sikeston High School tennis courts.

Three of the nine matches were shutouts by the Bulldogs, including two doubles matches.

Sikeston won the third doubles match 8-3, with Marc Leible and Matt Strom beating Chad Beck and Jon Wujcik.

"It's good to get a win," said Sikeston head coach Brian James. "We went with a couple different looks with our doubles play and we're going to try that this weekend. That may be something we look at in the future. We've just got to keep getting better each day."

In singles, Vickery beat Schuermann 8-4; Jones beat Piland 8-1; Leible beat Killpack 8-0; Robey beat Harper 8-1; Weeks beat Beck 9-7; and Strom beat Wujcik 8-3.
