POPLAR BLUFF - Nanie Mary Bowles, 87, formerly of Charleston, died at 2 p.m. Oct. 5, 2004, at the Westwood Hills Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Feb. 4, 1917, at Pontotoc, Miss., to the late Frank and Rushie Blaylock, she had lived in Poplar Bluff for the past 25 years having lived in Winter Park, Fla., and Charleston a number of years prior to that. She was affiliated with the Baptist church.
On Oct. 31, 1929, she married Ottice Bowles, who preceded her in death on July 16, 1983.
Surviving are: six sons, Junior Bowles of Charleston, Charles Bowles of Earl, Ark., Clifton Bowles of Tupelo, Miss., Billy Gene Bowles of Center Hill, Fla., Don Bowles of Ocala Fla., and Troy Bowles of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Varnadore of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Alton Blaylock of Veronica, Miss.; and 19 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Larry Portwood of Gideon will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
