I attended an agricultural meeting recently and am trying to figure out if our congresswoman and senator are for or against labeling on meat. Sometimes I hear them, and it seems as if they are with us on this issue. Then at other times you have to wonder if they're not cozying up to the big meat boys for fear that somebody might not buy their meat if it comes from India, China or wherever else. I sure don't appreciate all the two-stepping we're getting at these meetings. I almost hate it when they even bring it up because of fear of being alienated by the others. Are the politicians on our side or not, particularly with this labeling of meat issue? Our politicians encourage us to buy local, buy USA and everything, but if they're going to oppose labeling on meat, how are we going to know if we're buying USA meat? It seems like common sense to me. It just seems like doubletalk to me.

I would like to SpeakOut to the farmers all over the Bootheel area. You better get in gear and get that corn out in the next two weeks because I feel like September is going to come in wet and that won't be good for the corn that's ready to be gathered. I know this hot weather didn't let the corn cure like it should have, but you better not wait around until September if you can help it at all because I believe September is going to be a really wet month.

In response to "Cross the line" on Aug. 8, save your money. Save your money. You do not need to send $16.95 for a book when you can get the information right here in Sikeston for free. Yes, the information is free. I work in a Sikeston doctor's office. The doctor holds both U.S. and Canadian licenses. I just completed a price comparison of four pharmacies that will ship medications by mail. On some drugs, you can save 50 to 80 percent if you buy from Canada. Save your $16.95. Call me at 471-1485 or stop by 920 S. Kingshighway evenings or Saturday if you want more free information. Save yourself the time and cost of a plane ticket or bus ride to Canada. Dr. Glenn Babich can issue prescriptions that can be sent to Canada. There is one Canadian pharmacy that will refund the $40 cost of your office visit and health exam with Dr. Babich.

I've been hearing a lot about a child molestation case in Mississippi County. Everywhere I go, I hear parents say they hope the police don't want to talk to them or their kids, because they don't want to get involved. Well, guess what folks? I'm quite confident that his young victim didn't want to get involved either. Maybe you'd rather this man be cleared of all charges, even though they obviously had enough evidence to charge him. The exorbitant amount of the bond they set on him was no small change, except maybe to whoever posted it. I've known this man's family for years, and I don't like to think that this could happen, but seriously, folks, does anything surprise you in this day and age? I don't know the young victim personally, but I'd like to say to him, "You've shown bravery beyond your years." And that's more than a lot of adults in Mississippi County can say. My hat's off to you, young man.

This is to the woman in Mississippi County who complained about unwanted dogs. The reason why these dogs are chewing and destroying things on your property is because they are starving for something to eat. This happens because there are ignorant people who don't have their pets spayed or neutered. The only thing their mind is capable of thinking is to drop them off in the country. "Someone will take them in and feed them." Well, let me tell you, this doesn't happen. They starve to death or start running in packs and people kill them. I know it is not your responsibility to feed them, but I am a firm believer that you cannot be a Christian and mistreat animals. Animals don't ask for much, just a little love and food. I would rather be around my animals than the stupid people who did this to these poor animals. If anybody lives out that way, I suggest you help this woman out by taking an unwanted animal. By the way, this happens in every county. There should be a hefty fine when caught.

What makes you so sure about this being a minority, anyway? The reason our country is not internally at war all the time (like other countries are) is because we know what true freedom really is. It is freedom FROM religion, too. We have way too many pushy bullies who claim to be Christians. Go to church if that is what you want and be glad that you have that opportunity here in the USA. Keep your religion in your church, in your home, or on your missions and let others believe the way they choose. Judge Roy Moore is no longer a partial judge. He has cost the state of Alabama a lot of money with his monument. Believe me Alabama can not afford it, either. The money from this charade could feed a lot of children and old people in the state. He has shown that he would defy the law that he swore to be fair and uphold. It is not easy to find a fair and honest judge. Wise up America and enjoy the life that God gave you. Be so grateful for our forefathers and the laws they made for us. Keep religion out of the courtroom.

I have one thing to say to these people who call me with a no-name, unavailable number. If you are who I think you are doing that to me all the time harassing me, if you don't leave me alone, I will go to the sheriff's department and file a report of harassment.
