COLUMBIA, Tenn. -- Vera Ballard, 88, formerly of Fisk, Mo., died Oct. 18, 2003, at the Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia.
Born Sept. 17, 1915, in Dyersburg, daughter of the late Nathan and Lilly Forrest Burchard, she had moved to Fisk in the early 1960s and to Columbia in March 2002. She was a member of the Liberty Full Gospel Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
On Dec. 16, 1933, in New Madrid, Mo., she married Johnnie L. Ballard who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1992.
Survivors include: one son, Bobby Ballard of Olive Branch, Miss.; one daughter, Betty Tate of Spring Hill; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
One brother, Edward Burchard, also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo., where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Larry Ward of Poplar Bluff will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Mo.
