Why is it when you get all these harassing calls you can turn them into the telephone company, but when you get them from people who have "not available" numbers, there is no information in the telephone book for harassing you all the time?

To stop telemarketers from calling, call the Do Not Call line at (888) 382-1222 and register your number to be removed from lists that telemarketers use. The Do Not Call information is also available online at www.donotcall.gov

In response to the bankruptcies being printed, thanks, Mike, for printing those lists. My name was printed in your paper last week for just a simple traffic violation (for failure to signal). I consider that offense much less than filing for bankruptcy. Maybe these persons are embarrassed, and well they should be. They knew they were over-spending and some of us are taking their losses. This may be legal, but right is right and wrong is wrong, and to me, this is wrong.

I am a student in Sikeston Public Schools and I would like to say that the teachers are very, very nice. Sikeston has the finest teachers. They all did a wonderful job teaching me throughout the years and I hope to have a good school year this year. When is book check-out for Sikeston Junior High School?

Books can be checked out from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 for eighth grade students; and Aug. 13 for ninth grade students.

This is to the person who was published July 28 under "Disagree with view." They mentioned that beer and liquor kill thousands of people every year from being drunk and driving. The caller needs to check the math. If that were true, and conservatively 1,000 people were killed every minute from these types of activities, you would kill 525 million people every year.

This is to the person who said it's the 21st century and it's OK to be gay. I have news for you. There is a heaven and a hell and the Bible is the same as it was yesterday, today and will be the same thing tomorrow. Anyone who says it is OK to be gay is just excusing themselves. I don't want to be in your shoes when you die.

I wish the Mini Farms good luck on enforcing the 30 mph speed limit. I live on a dead end street, 20 mph and there are kids all over the place. Nobody goes that slow on this street, so good luck!

In response to the reduced speed limit in the Mini Farms area, I think it's a terrific idea, but I must ask, does this include everyone? It seems somewhat hypocritical when the people who are supposed to enforce these laws are driving faster than anyone else through this area.
