SIKESTON - A neighborhood dispute in the 200 block of Russell led to the arrest of six people around 9 p.m. Thursday.
According to Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving approximately 20 people. Upon arrival officers observed several people arguing and found where several people were assaulted during the incident.
Arrests were made and all subjects were transported to DPS headquarters where they are incarcerated pending charges for assault and peace disturbance. Additional arrests are pending in regards to this incident.
"We are just not going to tolerate this type of behavior that disrupts an entire neighborhood," said Juden. "Adults acting like a bunch of kids is about the only way to describe it."
Entering guilty pleas and each sentenced to seven days in jail were: Billy Joe Arnold, 31, of 244 Russell St.; Donald W. Hughes, 38, of 826 Linn St.; Jennifer McKinnie, 25, 244 Russell St.; and James Mueller, 34, 237 Russell St.
The following individuals entered not guilty pleas: Dewayne Heaton, 41, of 229 Russell St.; and Geri Heaton, 40, of 229 Russell St. Each posted a $1,000 cash bond with a trial date set for July 7.
