SIKESTON - Mrs. Mary Schillig has purchase the Jack and Jill Shop on South Kingshighway from Mrs. Mary Keaton and Mrs. Joy Alley.


SIKESTON - Ella Louise Lutz, daughter of Mrs. Elola Shuppert and Ralph Carroll, son of Mrs. Emma Carroll, were married yesterday evening in a ceremony performed by the Rev. R.M. Talbert, pastor of the Christian Church at his home.

ORAN - Little Miss and Mr. Homecomer at Oran were Ginger McConnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie McConnell, and Troy Wayne Bollinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Buster Bollinger.

SIKESTON - Six Brazilian businessmen toured several facilities Thursday and again today in the Sikeston area. The men are visiting the Bootheel and will spend a few days in Sikeston.


EAST PRAIRIE - There will be an ordinance against pit bulls, but again Thursday night, the city council could not decide exactly what restrictions the ordinance should contain.

ORAN - Meredith McDowell of Sikeston was crowned Miss Fall Festival in Oran on Aug. 23. Amy McBride of Vanduser was first runner-up and Deanna Jordan of Matthews was second runner-up.


NEW MADRID - The New Madrid County Commissioners presented two plaques to Jerry Vann in appreciation of his service to the county. Vann was honored for his service on the New Madrid County Ambulance Board and the New Madrid County Senate Bill 40 Board.


PORTAGEVILLE - Officials with the University of Missouri received $174,600 in legislative funding for the Delta Center and unveiled a drawing of a new telecommunications resource center.
