MARTINSBURG -- D. Michelle Vomund and D. Kendrick Lathum were married in a 3 p.m. double-ring ceremony June 11, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg. The Rev. Jeffrey Maassen of St. Louis performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Joe and Paula Vomund of Martinsburg and the granddaughter of Linton and Pauline of Martinsburg and the late Howard and Dorotha Myers.

Parents of the bridegroom are Herbert and Renee Lathum of Matthews. He is the grandson of Bill and June Roberts of Matthews and Freeda Parker of Sikeston and the late Eber Lathum.

Music for the occasion was provided by Lisa Brandt, organ and piano; Christina Welch, Nathan Ayres, Julie Lower and Nancy Dunn, vocals; Troy Ganson, Jim Dunn, Bob Doebelin, guitar and vocals; Janette Martin, fiddle and vocal; and Linton Vomund and Sylvia Modesitt, fiddle.

Readers were Gina Mongillo of Rolla, Amanda Becker of Martinsburg, Larissa Launius of Matthews and Carrie Powell of Cape Girardeau.

The alter area was illuminated with candelabras accented with nice fresh flowing sprengeri and plumosus fern, which were attached with sheer ivory colored ribbon. Decorating the alter was a lovely fresh floral consisting of three dozen Virginia roses and cream-colored hydrangeas.

The bride wore a gold and toffee, matte satin gown. The strapless, asymmetrical dress gathered at the waistline and met an A-Line skirt and followed into a semi-cathedral length train. She carried a hand-tied full red rose bouquet which included family keepsake jewelry worked in the bouquet, completed with a beautiful rosary attached to the base of the bouquet.

Maid of honor was Danielle Miller of St. Peters, and bridesmaids were Emily Johnson of Fulton, Jenny Myers of Lee's Summit, Katie Fralicx of Chesterfield and Jennifer Elsenraat of Rhineland.

The bridesmaids carried lovely hand tied bouquets consisting of cream colored hydrangeas and Virginia roses.

Jillian Launius, daughter of Chris and Larissa Launius of Matthews, was flower girl.

Robert Copeland of Cape Girardeau served the bridegroom as best man. Groomsmen were Rob Rogers of Wilmington, Mass., Curt Ledbetter of Laredo, Texas, Chris Launius of Matthews and John Lackman of Derby, Kan.

Ring bearer was Jack Lackman, son of John and Calah Lackman of Derby, Kan.

Candlelighters were Stephanie Myers of Richardson, Texas, and Bradley Launius of Matthews. Ushers were Mike Anderson of Hazelwood, Matt Egger of Dallas, Texas, Tommy Halstead of New Madrid and Eddie Vomund of Martinsburg.

Following the ceremony, an outdoor reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where guests were served by many friends and family of the bride.

The wedding cake was a majestic tiered confection simple decorated with several tempting flavors such as strawberry, French vanilla and chocolate. A graceful look of six dozen fresh red roses was used to accent the cake that increased the romantic allure which complements the natural setting.

Cake cutters were Christina Welch of Licking, Claire Elsea of Kansas City and Holly Eltermann of St. Louis.

Guest book attendant was Krista Raynor of Martinsburg, and gift table attendants were Leslie Carter of Martinsburg and Michelle Deeker of Bellflower.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Community R-VI High School, a 2004 graduate of University of Missouri-Rolla and is currently working at Boeing. Her husband is the son a 1999 graduate of New Madrid County Central High School, a 2003 graduate of University of Missouri-Rolla, and is currently working as a project engineer for Brinkmann Constructors.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Lathum are making their home in Troy.
