SIKESTON -- George Williams, 80, died at 9:49 a.m. July 1, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 27, 1925, in Shirley, Ark., son of the late Martin Monroe and Dovie Lavina Shelton Williams, he retired as a packer for the Scott County Milling Co. in Oran and then worked for 14 years as a custodian at the First Baptist Church in Oran, where he was a member. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he moved to Sikeston in 1980.

On Nov. 7, 1946, he married Jewell Vaughn who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Rosanne Mansker of Shiner, Texas; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time for services at 11 a.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The Rev. Ed Carter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
