SULLIVAN -- Opal E. Hunt Freeman, 87, formerly of Sikeston, died March 30, 2005, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 23, 1917, at Scranton, Ark., daughter of the late Walker Ely and Rosie Evelyn Snow Hunt, she received her education at the local school. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God in House Springs.
On Jan. 10, 1934, in Canalou, she was married to the late Loy M. Freeman; the couple then moved to Sikeston. This marriage was blessed with three daughters.
In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters, Jewel Hunt, Lois Chapman and Tropel Hunt; and two brothers, Miles Hunt and T.W. Hunt, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Geraldine Freeman of Florissant, Berniece and John Crowden of Eureka and Imogene and Dale Mocabee of Sullivan; four sisters, Rentha Idell Cohen, Layla Bye, Violet Tatum and Shirley Poore of East Prairie; one brother, Leman Hunt of Maricopa, Calif.; four grandchildren, Mark Crowden of Eureka, Keith (Susie) Crowden of Cedar Hill, Lisa (Mike) Firestine of Webster Groves and Melissa (Jason) Spurling of West Plains; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Michael Mocabee will officiate.
