Born March 19, 1913, in Marion County, Ala., to the late Silas and Villa Lovelace Howell, she had lived in Bertrand most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
On Dec. 25, 1940, she married Bill Darby, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicki and Layne Adams of Tulsa, Okla., and Sheila White of Bertrand; one brother, Joe Frank Howell of Phil Campbell, Ala.; three sisters, Ethel Lee Tesney of Bertrand, Wilbe Lauderdale of Haleyville, Ala., and Faye Gaskin of Tuscumbia, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Amy Darby of Tulsa, Kristen White of Cape Girardeau and Ryan White of Bertrand.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Lee Fansler of Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
