SIKESTON -- Billy A. Middleton, 63, died Aug. 9, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 15, 1939, in Henderson County, Tenn., son of the late David Arthur and Helen Lucille Baxter Middleton, he graduated in 1958 from Lilbourn High School where he was active in sports and school activities. His classmates knew him as "Cocklebur." A member of the Eagles Club in Sikeston, he retired as a chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy and had been a facilities manager for the Department of Defense.
Survivors include: one son, John Nicholas Middleton of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Jill and Andrew Christian of Kennesaw, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Janet Middleton of Milan, Tenn.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Moore of Red Bud, Ill., Lois Keaster and Brenda and Mack Wheetley of Sikeston; the mother of his children, Glenda Middleton of Dallas, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Nita Hults of Cahokia, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alton Middleton.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Larry Davis, pastor of Trinity Gospel Church, will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
