SIKESTON -- Ray Alberson, 77, died March 28, 2005, at his home.

Born Jan. 10, 1928, in Sikeston, son of the late Earl and Rose Farren Alberson, he served in the United States Army during World War II and worked as a mechanic for the Missouri State Highway Department before retiring. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the American Legion Henry Meldrum Post 114.

On May 28, 1950, he married Marilyn Greenlee who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Linda Alberson of Cape Girardeau and Mark and Sandi Alberson and Barry Alberson of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Cliff Pettit of Sikeston; two sisters, Geraldine McKinney of Keiser, Ore., and Annette Oertli of St. Louis; and eight grandchildren, Nathan Pedigo of St. Louis, Sara Pedigo of Carbondale, Ill., Elizabeth Alberson and Michael Alberson of Cape Girardeau, and Kenneth Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Erica Vaughn and Casey Alberson of Sikeston.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
