SIKESTON - Several members of the St. Louis Browns and manager Luke Swell will be guests of the Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting at the Dunn Hotel on April 3.

SIKESTON - Members of the Rose Gate Garden Club met Wednesday afternoon at the Delta Community Hospital where they planted a white dogwood tree in memory of the late Mrs. W.R. Lewis.

SIKESTON - Humorist Jerry Clower was in Sikeston Saturday evening as the guest speaker for a fund-raising dinner for the SEMO Christian Academy. Prior to the banquet a reception was conducted for Clower at the Ramada Inn. The comedian took the time to get to know some of those attending the event, including Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ulmer of Sikeston. Approximately 350 persons attended the banquet.

BENTON - Members of the St. Denis School in Benton cut the ribbon on the new library they established through fund-raisers and donations they began collecting in September 1994. Some of the fund-raising came through bake sales, wrapping paper sales, an aluminum can drive and face painting at the Halloween party. Over 500 books have been collected.

SIKESTON - A Sikeston Senior High art student recently earned honors from Congressman Bill Emerson for winning first place in the 1995 Eighth Art Competition. Entitled "Reflection of Days Gone By." Jennifer Idleman's artwork was selected from 230 entries submitted by high school students throughout the Eighth District. Idleman is the daughter of Lynn and T.J. Feller of Sikeston.
