SIKESTON - Announcement was made today by L.S. Hartzog, owner, of the installation of a new $10,000 bread wrapping machine in Hart's Bakery. Completely automatic and controlled by delicate instruments, the machine is capable of wrapping 60 loaves per minute.

BLODGETT - A quantity of meat was stolen from the Blodgett Elementary School. Taken were 81 pounds of boneless beef, a 24-pound turkey and 10 pounds of wieners. Entry was gained by prying open a window.

BLOOMFIELD - Jerry Howard, the new 157th district state representative, was sworn in by Judge Flake L. McHaney, presiding judge of the 35th circuit on Wednesday. The ceremony was conducted at the Stoddard County Courthouse in Bloomfield. The former 157th district representative is Robert S. Barney.


DEXTER - Elder Manufacturing Company is returning to Dexter, and the jobs provided by the company in its move back here is expected to reach 150-175 within a year.

SIKESTON - Saturday area residents entered their chili in the second annual red hot chili cook-off conducted in Sikeston. The chili was judged on aroma, flavor, after bite and appearance. Winner was Daran McDonald, Kristina Koepp, first runner up, and Jacqulyn Webster, second runner up.
