BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Clyde R. Ledbetter, 88, formerly of Matthews, Mo., died at 3:20 p.m. Oct. 8, at the Northshore University Hospital in Plainview.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Wheeler, Miss., son of the late David and Fannie Bell Horton Ledbetter, he had been a farmer in Matthews. He was a machinist for the U.S. Blind Stitch Company in Plainview for many years before retiring in 1980 and was a member of the Plainedge Baptist Church in Bethpage.
In April 1936, in Charleston, Mo., he married Ola Woods who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Joe H. Ledbetter of Garland, Texas; one daughter, Judith R. Ciampoli of Bethpage; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Riley Ledbetter, Croffus Ledbetter, Rufus Ledbetter, Burley Ledbetter and J.P. Ledbetter; and one half sister, Lena Smith.
Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and continues from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Mo.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
Pallbearers will be: Donald Ledbetter, Dennis Ledbetter, Paul Ledbetter, Sam Ledbetter, Brad Ledbetter and Clyde Ledbetter.
