Born Aug. 7, 1952, at St. Louis to Marvin E. Smith and Marilynn Smith, he was a self-employed cabinetmaker and carpenter.
In 1974 at St. Louis, he married Debbie Budreau, who preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1993.
Surviving in addition to his parents are: one son, Christopher Michael Smith of St. Louis; one daughter, Jennifer Gomes of Fort Polk, La.; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., and Stevin Alan Smith of Norman, Okla.; one sister, Kathleen Ferguson of Goose Greek, S.C.; and one grandson, Gavin Michael Gomes of Fort Polk.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Ron Wilcoxson will officiate.
Burial will be the Dexter Cemetery.
