SIKESTON - Mary Martha Powell, 82, died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 5, 2004, at her home in rural Sikeston.
Born Dec. 3, 1921, at Matthews, daughter of the late Charles Edward and Donnie Oliver McCormick, she had lived in Charleston most of her life before moving to Sikeston 30 years ago. She was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston.
On Oct. 23, 1956, she married Ameil J. Powell who preceded her in death on April 21, 2004.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ameil J. "Jimmy" and Becky Powell of Charleston and Larry and Carol Lynn of Ervin, N.C.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Janet and Michael McMillan, Karen Stallings, Mary F. "Doddie" and Ricky Vaughn of Sikeston and Peggy and Jim Jepsen of Charleston; one sister, Roberta Stagner of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Ameil J. "A.J." Powell III, Anthony Lee Stallings Lewis Lynn and David Lynn; and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Shannon Mascia, and two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. David Craig, pastor of Powerhouse of God Church in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: A.J. Powell, Anthony Stallings, Ricky Vaughn, Jim Jepsen, Jimmy Poore and Roy Miller.
