Speakout 4/12

Tuesday, April 12, 2005

I was calling Speakout about a situation I saw at the Humane Society. I saw a trailer full of dead animals that they had euthanized and I don't think they should have had that during business hours for someone to see that terrible bad thing. The smell when you walk in - the rotten stuff - is really bad, too. I think they need to fix that, too.

I enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Nice sunny days. It's a great time to get outside and stretch your long legs and jog a little bit. I hope you are getting ready for the Dogwood-Azalea Festival. We want to see you there.

I would like to Speakout about Mr. Bush. It is a shame Mr. Bush couldn't have taken some of the Pope's points and deeds. The Pope was for peace. He didn't think we should go to war. He didn't believe in war, he said we need peace which Mr. Bush was so set on going to war with Iraq and getting all of our boys killed. The Pope was for the poor. He was very religious which Mr. Bush lacks every aspect. Mr. Bush has a strange religion. He should have taken and listened and taken some good points from the Pope. The Pope was a very, very good man.

I am calling because I'm concerned over the fact the flag is flying at half mast at the Complex for, I'm assuming, the passing of the Pope and what that reflects on our country as a religious figure and honoring him and our separation of church and state ideas. I was wondering if anyone else is concerned about this as well. I understand the passing of a religious figure but does flying the flag at half-mast reflect the feeling of our nation. I think if it was my personal flag I would not have a problem with flying it at half-mast but as a nation of multi-religious background, I'm not sure. Maybe you lower it for the death of the Dali Lama?

This Speakout article is in regard to the former fire chief of Miner, the code enforcer and the building inspector and comments that have been made in the past two Standard Democrats. If the writer of these articles would have called Lamberts or Skinny's they would have found out that these two buildings were brought in from out-of-state and the fire chief, was not there except for a short time. These buildings were built by people who had built the other Lamberts building and the other Skinny's buildings so they were experts at what they did. Have him look into it some more.
