MINER - Theresa Jones is the "Employee of the Month" at Miner Nursing Center.

A cook in the dietary department, Jones was nominated and selected by her co-workers and supervisors due to her skills and dependability. "She is a very good cook," said her nominator. "She always keeps her work area clean and is very dependable.

Jones has worked at Miner Nursing Center, located at 410 H Road, for the past three years.

SIKESTON - DeNeen Schweiss is the Bootheel Counseling Services "Employee of the Quarter."

Employed at BCS for 17 years as an adult community worker, Schweiss was cited for being "trustworthy, flexible, ethical, caring, dependable and responsible" as just a few of her attributes. Bootheel Counseling Services is located at 760 Plantation Blvd. in Sikeston with a branch office at 1017 Highway 25 North in Dexter.

SIKESTON - USA Mattress is now an authorized dealer for Tempur-Pedic.

The store, located at 810 S. Main St., will be offering the mattresses featuring the Tempur pressure-relieving material developed by Swedish scientists. The material has a higher density making more durable and more responsive to temperature and weight, said Terry Stockman, owner of USA Mattress.

"The cells conform to your body contours, relieving pressure by evenly distributing your body weight over the entire surface area. As the material conforms to your shape, your body becomes supported in an anatomically correct position with your neck and spine in perfect alignment," he explained.

KENNETT - KBOA/KTMO was honored for its feature reporting, receiving a first place in broadcasting excellence during the Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards Ceremony June 11 in Kansas City.

In the wake of an earthquake, which shook a large portion of the Mid-South in February, KBOA/KTMO News Director Bill Page conducted an in-depth interview with the Center for Earthquake Studies, Missouri Emergency Management, U.S. Geological Survey and local officials. The series focused on the New Madrid Fault, chances for a major earthquake in the area, mitigation or preparedness as well as how equipped local governments were to respond to a major quake.
