SIKESTON - A six-year pedestrian safety plaque was presented to Mayor Harry Dudley by Jack O. Kramer, assistant district AAA representative. The award is given to cities that have a pedestrian fatality-free record.

SIKESTON - The battle to keep tourists coming to Missouri despite Mississippi River flooding has become an all-out-war, according to Bob Smith, chairman of the Missouri Tourism Commission.

SIKESTON - Country music star Pam Tillis has been chosen to fill the Wednesday night entertainment slot left vacant by Tracey Lawrence's sudden cancellation. Lawrence, previously scheduled to kick off the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, has been hospitalized due to sudden illness and will not perform at the rodeo, the Sikeston Jaycees have announced.
