SIKESTON - Paul D. Higgins, son of Mrs. Mack Higgins of Sikeston, was ordained as a Baptist minister in a special ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Sikeston on Sunday.

SIKESTON - Miss Phyllis Ann Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Simmons, is attending Draughon's Business College in Memphis, Tenn. She was a 1964 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School of which she was an active member.

SIKESTON - Members of the Delta Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority gathered this week at the home of Penny Long for a planning meeting. The organization is sponsoring its annual Casino Night at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Shriners building, located behind the VFW Stadium to the north of East Malone Avenue. Prizes will be donated by area merchants and all proceeds go to local charities.

SIKESTON - Don Shanner was the winner of the 1994 GMC pickup raffle as part of the 1994 Kenny Rogers CP Center Charity Walk event. The ticket was purchased at the SEMO District Fair in Cape Girardeau.

SIKESTON - A bake sale is scheduled Friday at Missouri Delta Medical Center to benefit the Bob Robinson family. Funds raised will help pay expenses acquired by Robison, who has suffered complications since his July 11, 1993, heart transplant. In addition, a drawing will be conducted Dec. 1 on items donated for a raffle to benefit the family. Raffle tickets are available from Sandy Costin at Better Homes and Gardens First Reality, 520 S. Main St. or from family members.
