Thank you for running the story on ALS and promoting the great work of the St. Louis Chapter of the ALS Association! As someone who grew up in Sikeston and graduated from SHS in '85, I have always been proud to call it my hometown. Now as someone who has had ALS for over 11 years which has rendered me a quadriplegic on a ventilator, I am very pleased that my hometown newspaper has put a spotlight on the problems that those of us who have ALS face and the essential services we receive from the St. Louis ALS Association.
I can directly attest to the invaluable service and support that the St. Louis ALS Association is to us who have ALS since I have been a recipient of their services as I now live in west St. Louis County. Their staff is extremely helpful and supportive as they work tirelessly to help us cope with this terrible disease. Without the assistance and support that the St. Louis ALS Association gives my family, my journey with ALS would have been much more difficult.
Thank you to the St. Louis ALS Association for all they do and thank you to Leonna Heuring and the Standard Democrat for giving publicity to this extremely important cause. It makes me even more proud to call Sikeston my hometown!
