BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Clyde R. Ledbetter, 88, formerly of Matthews, Mo., died at 3:20 p.m. Oct. 8, at the Northshore University Hospital in Plainview.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Wheeler, Miss., son of the late David and Fannie Bell Horton Ledbetter, he had been a farmer in Matthews. He was a machinist for the U.S. Blind Stitch Company in Plainview for many years before retiring in 1989 and was a member of the Plainedge Baptist Church in Bethpage.
In April 1936, in Charleston, Mo., he married Ola Woods who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Joe H. Ledbetter of Garland, Texas; one daughter, Judith R. Ciampoli of Bethpage; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Riley Ledbetter, Croffus Ledbetter, Rufus Ledbetter, Burley Ledbetter and J.P. Ledbetter; and one half sister, Lena Smith.
Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and continues from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Mo.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
