BERNIE - Jackie Lee Hughes, 67, died Oct. 8, 2003, at his home.
Born April 23, 1936, at Ann Arbor, Mich., son of the late Vernon and Mary Perry Hughes, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in transportation and maintenance for Bernie Public Schools for 25 years before retiring Dec. 20, 2002, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Bernie.
On March 19, 1960, in Pontiac, Mich., he married Nelda Sudbury who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Lee and Karen Hughes of Bloomfield and Robert Edgar and Brenda Hughes of Flint, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Jessica DeAnne Hughes and Kaycee Lee Hughes of Bernie and Christen Stepp and Candice Stepp of Bloomfield.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. O.H. Brooks will officiate.
Full military honors will be conducted at the Bernie Cemetery.
