SIKESTON - Jesse D. "Pete" Castleberry, 92, died at 7:50 a.m. Oct. 5, 2003, at the Miner Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 7, 1911, in Pangburn, Ark., son of the late Clayton Carroll and Viola King Castleberry, he had been a meat cutter for the Learue and McKinnie Grocery Store in Miner. He was a 50-year member of Shady Acres Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for 40 years.
On Oct. 11, 1930, in Sikeston, he married Letha Geraldine Andres who preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, Carl Dawson Castleberry of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Donald Castleberry of Springfield; two daughters, Sue Kraus of Oran and Jean Chism of Morrilton, Ark.; one brother, Gerald Castleberry of North Carolina; two sisters, Josie Yant of East Prairie and Mildred Hamilton of the state of California; and 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Joyce Taylor; and three brothers and one sister.
Services were conducted Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial followed in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
Pallbearers were Patrick Seyer, Steve Ressel, Gerald Dold, David Speightes, Lee Brown and James Figley.
