"Tonight the varsity main emphasis was to get the ball terminated," said Sikeston head coach Steve Beydler. "We've been having trouble with that. Tonight we did a decent job of terminating the ball but did a poor job of serving. We had 10 service errors tonight. It was nice to get a win. We have a little more work we have to get accomplished that we're going to work on this weekend."
Serving leaders for Sikeston (attempts-aces-errors-points) were: Rachael Vining (8-2-3-3), Paige Kaiser (4-0-2-2), Erin Box (6-1-2-3), Maggie Pfefferkorn (9-3-2-7), Leo Voss (5-1-0-5), Quinn Kaiser (7-2-1-6) and Mallory Wiffen (2-0-0-1).
Berneatress Hunt had five kills and four blocks. Kaiser had four kills while Vining and Audra Wooley had one kill each.
Pfefferkorn had seven assists while Box added five assists.
In the junior varsity match, Sikeston defeated Chaffee 25-2, 25-6, to improve to 9-5-3 on the year.
In serving, Lindsey Wright had 12 points and seven aces, Amber Anthony had 10 points and five aces, Khassie Patterson had 10 points and six aces, and Aidan Marshall had four points and two aces.
Leaders in kills were Anthony (3), Kiarra Morris (2), Emily Taylor (2), Marshall (1), Paige Harrington (1) and Patterson (1).
"The junior varsity did a fantastic job of playing team ball," said Beydler. "They did a good job keeping focused and keeping their concentration. They really did a nice job serving. We had 22 of our 50 points come from aces."
Sikeston will host Dexter on Monday at 6 p.m.
