POPLAR BLUFF - Emma Lorene Brown, 77, formerly of Dexter and Puxico, died Feb. 21, 2005, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1928, in Puxico, daughter of the late Alva Levi and Amelia Jane Grews Griffy, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fisk and past member of Dexter Elks Lodge 2439 Ladies Auxiliary.
On Dec. 9, 1946, at Piggott, Ark., she married Louis Sylvester "Brownie" Brown who preceded her in death on June 12, 1998.
Survivors include: three daughters, Shirley Jean Fortner of Bernie and Emma Daphene Hopkins and Loretta Jane Mikel of Poplar Bluff; and four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Henry M. Griffy and Raymond L. Griffy, also preceded her in death.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Revs. Luther "Bud" and Bonnie Goins of Poplar Bluff will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico.
